A yummy trip to Greece--on Burnside.
The Scene
Passing through the white-walled exterior, you'll swear you've
crossed the Atlantic and stepped into a cheerful, bustling Greek
taverna. Luscious aromas and festive Greek music welcome you while
families and friends of all ages gather around blue-and-white
checked vinyl tablecloths.
The Food
Starting with the Alexis platter ensures a wide sampling of
delicious dishes, including creamy hummus, tender and tangy octopus,
and delicious dolmades--grape leaves stuffed with lamb and rice--topped
with a mild and tart egg-lemon sauce. Dinners like moussaka--a
casserole layered with eggplant and ground lamb topped with béchamel
sauce--tend to be rich and overcooked. Items from the grill (namely
any of the souvlaki plates) fare far better; they are satisfyingly
seasoned and cooked to juicy perfection. Dessert indulgences like
the baklava and bougatsa won't disappoint. And if you have room,
wash it all down with a glass of ouzo.
